Next Generation Pathways to Computing Program (Oak Ridge National Lab) – ORNL NGP
Last summer, I had the honor to participate in the selective ORNL NGP internship in which I worked with ORNL scientists to research a topic of interest. I participated in a simulation study of the different thermal properties of a few materials, with the goal to understand their properties for potential uses on energy efficient water-heating systems systems. For the project, I also had the opportunity to use a small compute cluster of the supercomputer, Frontier! It was a fun and challenging experience. For a more in-depth view visit: Research.

Governor’s School for Computational Physics
I participated in this amazing experience at Austin Peay University in which I learned very cool skills including Fortran for high performance computing, visited the Oak Ridge National Lab and learned mathematical computation in python and some Machine Learning techniques. Specifically, I learned critical thinking skills to solve problems related to 3D motion, gravity, orbits, heat, and the Lorentz force, applied numerical approximations like Euler’s Method, Verlet Method, and Runge-Kutta Method 4th order (RK4), and created a basic Chatbot using Anaconda, a distribution of Python used for scientific computing and tested the extent to which the model could be used.

Knox County Health Board
During High-School, I was impacted by the pandemic and that motivated me to get interested in the Knox County Youth Health Board (YHB) , an initiative for interested and motivated high-school students that care about the community, want to learn health-related issues affecting the community, and strive to exercise leadership skills. I have been serving in the Board since 2022 and since then have participated in several community outreach programs through YHB (seen on Service page).

Thanks to the Health Board I was also able to get to know Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, an avid supporter of the program.

Camp Invention

Two summers ago, I had the privilege to help at Camp Invention where I was able to help young children learn more about STEM. I am very glad that I was able to serve as stepping stone for several curious kids on their way to be innovative thinkers and during this experience I myself learned more about what it means to be a STEM mentor for the younger generations.
